Banks are closed on the west coast. I am traveling to North Central CA to purchase some animals…
I pull into the bank in Oregon and,,,,,, they are closed for a new holiday…..
It was going to be a turn and burn trip,,,,…. Not anymore……

You'd know it as Columbus Day. Its not new, just "rebranded".

Fair,,,, I only fond out it was monday a little bit ago…..

The only thing that I can personally give credit to Columbus for,,, is that he had a set of brass… the majority of folks at that time thought that you could sail off the end of the earth into the abyss,,,
Other than that,,, Columbus was a cut throat,,, he was a profiteer,,, and he did catch, and enslave lots of Indians… took them back to the old world and sold them.
I know that the Indians here practiced slavery as well… it’s just the idea that Columbus was this heroic individual,,, when it really is a candidate for a Mel brooks story line,,,

Sounds like the rebranding and demonization of American history is working well on our youth.

Its Anti-Columbus Day. Columbus was a fortune seeker and a risk taker who brought the existence of the American continents to the attention of European nations. His morals were those of the people of Europe at the time. Enslaving the natives he encountered is not considered proper today, but neither is the rampant human sacrifice practiced by the native civilizations encountered by the Spanish in the years following Columbus' discovery. None of the bleeding heart "re-branders" want to talk about native cultures cutting out the beating hearts of their human sacrifice victims, that aspect of native culture is summarily ignored.

It's a celebration of white guilt and a continuous grift

Great post EdP. Also, they hate to hear about the killing of Indians by other Indians, the taking of their women and children as slaves or to become members of their tribes. The displacement of tribes as others killed them or moved off the lands they wanted. Rewriting history again.
