That’s a beasty Aaron. Certainly has the heavy legs of a whopper. It looks like a terrible candidate for a rug, been there, bummer.
Congrats to whoever the shooter was!

That's the one I was talking about, 900 live, 770 dressed.

An 800 pounder was taken in Montague, NJ a couple/few years back.

I didn't know NJ was an ag state. What are the main food sources for bear there.
Appears to be a high population of them.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

You have to remember that 1 out of 3 Democratic Voters is just as dumb as the other two.

Bear make the loop thru PA, NY, and NJ. They visit the Catskills, Poconos and back into NJ. Some of the best bear habitat in the east.

I had a neighbor's funeral yesterday afternoon/evening and another one today so I will have to wait until the December season to shoot one on a hunting tag. Shoot some thru the fall on damage permits but those must not be saved for any use. Bears here raise 3.2 cubs per mother to 1.5 years of age when the mother runs them off. We have an estimated 4+ bears per square mile. If you have never been to New Jersey it is not all city. Lots of corn raised where I live. Lots of oak trees too. Also most houses have bird feeders and that birdseed is so high in calories that it makes extra fat bears, in the case of mother bears extra fat means extra milk so she has enough milk to raise up to 7 cubs (2 times this year I have seen bears with 7 cubs first time I have seen that many and it was 20 miles apart so it was not the same litter) it is very rare to see a female with less than 3 cubs. We do get some huge male bears, the biggest ones I have seen were working pizza place dumpsters. That's where the bear pictured above ate. Every year we get a few people chewed up by a bear, about 10 years ago they killed and ate most of a Rutgers student hiking a few miles from my house.
