Nice job Bruce.

Stop over cooking your meat! It isn’t gamey, it’s over cooked!

We never shot "sitting" ducks anywhere. With the understanding that "upland game" needed to be flying as well. Deer was a different story.

Why?No diffrence. To me its the hunting skill to get it in shooting range. Not trying to make the shot more difficult with a greater chance of wounding or loosing it.

There's no skill driving around and shooting them on the ground.

But do whatever is legal.

Great hunt, I used to hunt them in Wisconsin with my lab when I was up there hunting ducks and geese.

It takes alot of skill if the vehicle you are shooting from is still moving, just ask Savell..

I shoot all partridge on the ground or out of a tree with a 22 or 410.If I will be going where the sharptails hang out I bring the 29ga.or 22.They are a lot harder to stalk close enough for a guaranteed head shot before they fly.If they fly I let them go to the spruce tops and stalk them there.
I hunt for meat and head shoot,I dont want to waste meat that is full of shot or wound them.
Shooting at flying partridge that can be stalked doesnt make any sense for a meat hunter.
I did the wing shooting when I was a kid,but too many wounded and not recovered or the others that dropped often full of shot.

Some of my best memories are Yankee and myself hunting the southern hills of Ohio for Ruffles. Thanks Bruce.

They aren't an easy target, especially if there is a lot of tree foliage. I've dropped a lot of leaves trying to hit them quite often. grin

I agree, especially since they are the tastiest, best eating wild game there is. It often takes a good eye to spot them on the ground. They blend in with their surroundings very well usually. Hitting them isn't the problem. Spotting them is.

I hear that.
And they can scare the dickens out of you when they flush grin

If its anywhere close to the scare having a covey of quail wait till your in the middle of them to flush. And your heart jumps out of your chest as the ground explodes 360 degrees around you. Then count me in I want to flush some partridge.
