So finally bought my first pair of seeing glasses. I use them to read. Noticed after just a few days my eyes have gotten lazy and do not want to adjust up close on their own. Is this normal? Getting old can kiss my rear!

What I was told is not your eyes that get lazy. Is your brain not have to work so hard to make your eyes adjust. Which should make you not tire as quick when you read.
But then was almost 40 years ago I was told that. Probably new data now days saying BS.

I think it actually has something to do with flexibility of some part of the eye...it stiffens up and wont flex and allow focus of close up items. I started using cheaters about 2 years ago..what a pain. I cant keep track of them. I now have about 6 pair floating around in different locations.

I have vertigo due to ear infections as a youth that ruined my balance in my right ear. I wear bifocals and yes moving with vertigo and duel lenses can get dicey, especially near dawn and or early evening. Night walking in the dark is really tough.

Am sure it is the brain processing optics.

I broke down and ordered bifocals this year , I got tired of switching glasses

when they told me how much area would be sorta blurry from the lineless I said I will take the line

you know why old people look like they are looking down their nose at you , they are looking out the top of the bifocals
and how they notice every little thing on the ground , when they look down they have magnifiers looking at the ground

that was a revelation I had after adjusting to bifocals and then seeing the grass in the cracks in my sidewalk in magnification

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

My Pastor where's one contact lense and it apparently helps. I'm assuming it's a bifocal lense

My eye Dr suggested trifocals as my first prescription glasses , I swear he's got a sick sense of humor , they're not to bad after you get used to them , I'm still waiting for that to happen ha ha

I've literally tripped over little or nothing because of the glasses , and I no longer need to drink alcohol or use drugs just put th opp SE glasses on and walk around !
I refer to it as the Capt Jack Sparrow effect ha ha

Your results may vary ha ha

Had a younger friend come up to me at work and say " do you need some spectacles gramps" when I was looking at a clipboard hanging on the wall. I had no idea what he was talking about tell he pointed out I was squinting.

I used to be able to read the digital display numbers on the wall for one job 60 yards away but started having to drive half way down to be able to read them. I'm thick and though the bulbs must be getting old and dim.

Went on a vacation and my wife was reading the interstate signs at night when I was driving through Alanta traffic 200 yards before I could. This was the final clue and I went to the eye doctor. Got glasses that was 8 years ago. Last year I was given the option for bi focals. I had issues at work because I drive large equipment and look down a lot . they mad the bifocal part as small and low as possible and still have it and it helped. I have the lowest bi focal rx they make but it dose help with small print.

I went no line.
