Nice! The few that I’ve caught look better than some of the late spring ones that I just finished putting up. This summer doing some ADC, I forgot to put lure in my truck. I just used a white piece of a wipe-all paper towel laying out of the water for eye appeal in a channel through the reeds that I made. Had to take today off as Mb Infrastructure just got my number and gave me some work. A few trouble spots in the same RM that I’m trapping for. Gonna hit em hard today, go to the US for the weekend and hopefully pull sets Monday……Then back to work…lol

I'll skin and board these 3 today see how they look. Will head up north to the adanac line next week and run a dozen beaver traps for a couple weeks and add a few mink sets here and there as I go.Hopefgully get a bit of snow to see how many wolves are running up there this year.Maybe drop a few rat sets according to weather and sign. Gonna be comfy trapping out of the side by side this fall, lol. The wife even said she wants to go with me to check traps and shoot grouse, lol.

Lots of beaver in this country around here Alder.. Long season too so dont have to catch dozens all at once. Around 6 per check is about right, check every second day in open water and skin in between.

I enjoy trapping beaver. And I have the itch to go trap a few. But gripping and stretching the hide with one hand and working the knife with the other to clean skin them fires up my carpel tunnel something fierce. My hands feel achy just looking at your photos and thinking about handling six in a day. But I like looking at all the catches.
United we stand.

I wonder what the buyers are using the pale otter for? I was pleasantly surprised when the three XL I-II HVY-SEMI LT BRN-PL went for $20-30 more than I was expecting.

Natural straight hair otter make real nice durable bomber style jackets. It was either OFMF or FHA that sold them back in the day and a lot of trappers bought them-real sharp looking jackets, not flashy but warm. I wish I would have got one.

When I clean skin I dont stretch the hide,I lift it straight up but leave it loose enough to conform to the sweep of the knife blade before pushing. What is getting more difficult for me in regards to beaver trapping is handling the heavy carcasses before and after skinning because of my bad legs.

After a career on the rails, I thought you’d say bad back? Knees & hips are number 1 and back number 2 in my trade. For me it’s my back I gotta be careful with. No jerking or I’ll pay for it the next few days.

Great job, beautiful scenery. I wish I had that beaver meat to try in my coyote sets here in Pennsylvania. That's one thing I have tried a little here but haven't had great luck with it except maybe a couple of pups. Even late in the year with snow and cold. Didn't seems to make any difference.

Good question. I think Bocos up in here so he’s not much further north than you & me in regards to daylight hours. About half way up the red circle and to the right. Beaver fur is good here around the 15 oct.Sometimes I start early because it doesnt really matter I have enough traplines to take beaver right thru the season. land fur opens here on the 25 of oct .marten are prime by november, arten prime up early.A rule of thumb that I go by is when the weasels turn all white marten are also prime. Mink are prime by nov 1 also I set two mink boxes and two marten boxes on the beaver line the other day.

Nice mink! Guess your boxes are close to water? I’m going to start Nov 13. Heading out with the boys for deer, my tags filled so some sets are going up. Unless we get some freeze up, I’ll have to hide them off the trail. There’ll be a few hunter around. After freeze up I’m guessing it’ll be some chainsaw work to open the line……good times!
