Vest and hat here, private and public, doesn't matter. I usually only hunt with a few other people (not by myself), just helps us keep track of each other.

Yes, always wear orange while hunting all upland birds. No matter the location.

I hate getting shot. I wear orange.

Heck, I throw an orange hat on when I walk to the mailbox during firearm deer season. LOL

Yup! I wear it when I don’t have to!

Big fan of not getting shot, maybe the biggest fan of not getting shot ever!

I hate someone telling me what I HAVE to wear when I'm hunting

It's communist. I've said that ever since they made it law here in PA

I don't hunt Chinese chicken anymore

Well, if that is the worst thing that happens to you today. (Someone making you wear some orange for safety) then that’s a good day.

Hope you have a good season.

Yeah, we don’t have them wild down here. Only time I’m part of a hunt is for a mentored hunt, and if they want to participate, they wear orange.

it isn't a requirement here but if you don't and you get a lead shower it was your own fault.

How about teaching people the proper way to handle a firearm when a field?
Know what's behind what you are shooting at.
I've bought my own clothes since I was 12, and no one will tell me how I have to dress to be safe
This subject gets me fired up. mad

I have a few orange t-shirts and an orange sweatshirt I wear under my orange coat or vest that way if I want to change layers I am good

we hunt some thick stuff , yesterday 30 yards apart I couldn't see my hunting partner in places, also could not hear him over the wind.
keeping track of where he is shaves time off knowing if I can shoot that bird , wait for it to move or have to pass.

we also yell bird when we send one up , in the case of the one he almost stepped on yesterday but then couldn't shoot because it was headed over my son who was with the dog, just a few yards away. I was on it and as soon as it was in front of me it was down, it buys time.

We yell Hen if it is a hen going up , as we hunt rooster only ground.

I can completely understand you don't want to be told to wear orange on private ground.

I am saying public ground with released birds

or public land for Deer , during gun deer season on WI public land it is not uncommon to be able to see someone in every compass direction from where you are in orange 50-100 yards away

I have pulled up on a deer just to see orange behind the deer 100 yards that I couldn't see until moved to the opening that I saw the deer headed to , let that deer walk past the guy sleeping , then shoot it
had that guy been all in brown laying in brown leaves 150 yards away never would have seen him.

I wear the minimum amount required by law. Grouse hunting I wear none at all, except when I grouse hunt during rifle season.

In SD, I wear an orange hat.

However, if I hunted pheasants on public land in southern WI, I would wear blaze orange and probably a flack jacket. crazy

it isn't quite that bad out here on a weekday
but Bong rec area got so bad that they charge a fee for entry and assign fields , limit hours
we skip opening day for a reason.

I don't hunt on public lands, to many people.
There's also a $20 permit to hunt Chinese chicken.
All stocked, no wild birds around me. And they closed most of the Chinese chicken farms right after requiring the you needed a permit to hunt them

Our GC is stupid. Literally

the pheasant stamp here is 10 dollars

weekday hunting around me isn't too bad we will get out around 8-10 times during the season

If the law states it I do it. Even checking traps during a gun season I wear it also.
