Friend called about 4:30 this evening from his tree stand and wanted to go out for those this evening. Half way through the conversation said "just a second" then BAM! "Guess I won't make it, I just shot a buck!" Wind or no wind when love is in the air, there on the move!

Seen 3 last evening but too dark to take a shot. In my stand now watching a small 6 pointer meaner around. Otherwise just crows and red squirrels here so far. Neighbor shot this dandy yesterday morning. Said the coyotes must have found the guy pile last night as they where raising all sorts of ruckus last night. Nice buck

I got a small buck and a doe so will have a full freezer this winter. Once the orange army gets out of the woods I can get back to my passion of trapping!

Perfect shot Rick.
Overall, deer movement here is really slow. So very few out hunting. It's as though there isn't a deer season anymore.
That's the way it is here in south eastern VA. Been muzzelloader hunting for 2 weeks. Heard 4 shots all season. I saw 4 deer shot 1 doe to eat. Doesn't seem to be the hunters there used to be. I hunt a couple of government properties that are 1st come 1st served. Normally the slots are hard to get but this year they have never filled up.

After filling my antlerless management archery tag, I finally opted to use my regular archery tag on this young guy the evening before rifle season. The big one I was after had not showed up for over a week and then, of course, showed up twice in front of both of my stands on opening of rifle. I was done hunting by then. I am happy since they were both perfect "eaters" and I was tired of getting cramped sitting in those uncomfortable portable stands. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2024/11/full-3328-236835-24killsm.jpg)
I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!
