Friend called about 4:30 this evening from his tree stand and wanted to go out for those this evening. Half way through the conversation said "just a second" then BAM! "Guess I won't make it, I just shot a buck!" Wind or no wind when love is in the air, there on the move!

I did see one little buck on the prowl looking for love yesterday.20 mph I can handle but 25 to 35 mph winds like yesterday I would have passed on hunting unless I was in the thick bottoms.Work should be a little slower starting Thursday so my plans are to start hunting mornings again and the winds look like they will be down the next few days, more south winds than normal for this time of year. We'll make it work and hopefully my nephew will get one of the ten pointers in his scope by this weekend.Back to bed for awhile....

I got a small buck and a doe so will have a full freezer this winter. Once the orange army gets out of the woods I can get back to my passion of trapping!

So very few out hunting. It's as though there isn't a deer season anymore.

That's the way it is here in south eastern VA. Been muzzelloader hunting for 2 weeks. Heard 4 shots all season. I saw 4 deer shot 1 doe to eat. Doesn't seem to be the hunters there used to be. I hunt a couple of government properties that are 1st come 1st served. Normally the slots are hard to get but this year they have never filled up.

After filling my antlerless management archery tag, I finally opted to use my regular archery tag on this young guy the evening before rifle season. The big one I was after had not showed up for over a week and then, of course, showed up twice in front of both of my stands on opening of rifle. I was done hunting by then.
I am happy since they were both perfect "eaters" and I was tired of getting cramped sitting in those uncomfortable portable stands.

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

Good evening,no morning or evening hunt for me today, work still took 7.5 hours today plus I had to get the oil changed again.I'm hoping to hunt tomorrow late afternoon after work.Up date from the beginning of the season the dead deer that got up and was gone when I got down to tag it etc.We crossed paths again just west of my backyard.Sundays bullet had hit the black hole impact high shoulder mark, right above the scapula by an inch inch and a quarter and 1/2" below the spine. He was laboring hard in his walking abilities.I will ask Tim 20 scout to post a few pictures for me later, turned out to be 6.5 or 7.5 years old lots of mass short tined longest tine was just over 5"beautiful dark chocolate antlers. He wouldn't have made it through the winter I'm glad we got him and not the coyote or wolves....
