Could you post a picture of the current set up?

Here's a picture of my current roller. I had a picture of it zoomed out with the winch in the picture too but it sized it down. I only have about 110-120 lbs on the plate. The winch is secured between 2 rafters with a plate and 6 or 8 bolts going through 2 2x4s to keep the winch up so it's plenty sturdy. I plan to add a pulley to get more height since it would be nice to be able to get it a couple of feet higher. I just need to figure out this base system and then it should be golden.

What is that floor made of? It looks like maybe wood. If it is, mount your skinner to a 2x4 that will span two of the floor joists under the flooring. Then use a couple big lag screws and screw it down to the floor joists.

The floor is 2x6 12" on center with 3/4" T&G plywood on top.

Perfect. Mount your skinning base to a 2x4 or 2x6 and screw that sucker down. You'll be far better off than trying to weight it down. You can unscrew it from the floor in the off season and move it out of the way if you want to too.

Sounds good, I'll try that and report back.

I can not, it's on 6x6 skids and that's it.

In this case I would do what ADC said cement in a barrel is very heavy, I would use these in the 5/16 or bigger size a little easy than lags.

Bob those are good too. The deal is, just screw it down. It doesn't have to hold a trucks weight, just pull a coyote. lol If the hoist were straight above a floor joist, I'd just screw it down to that one, but spanning two would be a little easier on the joists.

Yeah, the diagram said lags, so I wasn’t sure and thought I’d post those as you don’t need to drill, but yes screws would work very well.

If he wanted to remove it in the off season the lags won't fill up with "stuff" is why I picked them, but it's no big deal.
