Well, sounds like the conservatives are allowing it.....
Very few true conservatives in this state. Lots who think they are but generations of them have lived under this system long enough that they were okay with getting fingerprinted to carry a gun up until recently. They are still okay with local tyrants setting the rules. They love to complain about Atlanta but expect their local sheriff and commission to tell everyone how to live. They're okay sending folks to Atlanta but won't give them any real power to rein in local tyrants or set uniform state laws. It results in legislators that aren't much more than local barons that hold office until they die in office. But maybe I got it wrong as I'm used to Alabama's system where cities and commissions have only the power granted to them by the legislature and any and all local changes require going hat in hand to the legislature and and often a vote by the whole state. And the sheriff is the chief constitutional officer.

When I was 12 I'd walk a mile to the mall gas station in Desmoins IA to buy cigarettes for myself. Walker around the neighborhood with friends with them rolled in in my sleeve smoking freely. We are no longer a free country.

A lot of this comes from people living all their lives in HOAs Our country is full of people who feel more secure with some stranger in charge of their life. People who believe the government is the best entity for everything. Its how government both local and federal got so bloated. Its why half your money goes for taxes every year but governments local and federal are always broke and or in debt.

They told on the news a few days ago it was a nosey concerned citizen down the street that pushed it. I am sure it was a nosey neighbor that called. It was a social worker that made it a big deal.

And I bet a promotion is in order. Climbing ladders is what its all about and some don't care what they get on those rungs going up, but most assuredly those rungs will be slick coming down, at some point anyway !

Ain't you the one always whining about name calling? Not me I just call out those that pull the race(nationality) card all the time. No one mentioned any race or nationality in this thread.Your just trying to get the thread axed like you try to do to so many other threads. You should just mind your own business and keep learning to speak Pakistani.

My kids, including my 8 year old, ride and walk all over town. They're homeschooled, so they go all over even during the middle of school days, when even a reasonable person might wonder why a school age kid is riding around or at the store buying candy.
We were hassled a few times when we first moved to town by the local cops, but it's pretty rare now. About two weeks after we moved in, 2 cops showed up asking why none of our kids were in school......the oldest was just 5 and being homeschooled, the rest weren't even old enough to be in school. Cops have showed up a few times because someone called in about kids playing outside in the rain, or because someone thought they were riding too close to the street (apparently the sidewalk is too close), or because they were riding their bikes in the street (cop sat down a block and watched them for half an hour before finally driving up and telling them they were doing a good job moving out of the way whenever a car came).

Beatrice must be the safest town in America if all the cops have to do is stake out kids on bicycles!
