Skunks are a pain to bait into a trap. There's no rhyme or reason for it other than they have other foods on their mind. That's my theory anyway.

I have some plasticatch traps but I rather use my regular cages most of the time for skunks because I like to see what I'm dealing with

Placing the trap off the ground doesn't do anything for you for skunks. If you can fence em down into the trap helps

I use the 6 inch pipe traps a lot, never really had any problems with them. Marshmallows for bait, or cat food. Be sure to prop up next to a building or stake down so they cant roll it. I have better luck with the pipes than the poly traps. Both do work though. I have caught a raccoon in a pipe trap, barely fit inside.

Are you putting bait inside and outside the trap? I always lead them in

If you’re using the Ztrap 6-inch pipe, they have a couple brackets on the bottom for staking. Skunk, possum or coon can’t roll them if you use the bracket with rebar.

I have a couple Ztrap tubes. Marshmallows work past the trigger. I snack them in starting about 6-inches in front of the trap with mini-marshmallows or bits of cat food.

Thanks for replies....everything mentioned I haven't been doing....will try......think most skunks and racoons coming onto my property are released by home owners in subdivisions and may be trap smart.
