Wolverine are making a comeback here last decade or so.Bruce The couple times I have seen wolverine tracks I pull all my sets in the vicinity until they move on. Trappers that have caught incidentals in wolf snares are allowed to keep them for personal use only not allowed to sell since they are zero quotad on licence. Native people here can intentionally take them for traditional use. I would like to see them increase in this area so we can get a quota even if only one or two in the future.

Gotcha. Like you said, the early ones are easy to over scrape and get to the roots. Came close twice but I’d say it’s the best wolf I’ve got, not the biggest but really nice and no blemishes except the 2 toes missing on the one back foot. There’s the odd wolverine a few hours north of me.

Are you catching red squirrels in your sets this time of year or is that deeper into winter?

Only two red squirrels this year-they are as scarce as I have ever seen them. A bunch of white spruce were killed off last couple years from the spruce bug worm, might have had something to do with the crash of the red squirrel. They sprayed heavily to kill the bugworm last couple summers,so maybe the spraying affected the red squirrels, but I doubt it because there are still lots of flying squirrels

Good to see you finally got some snow! Good deal on the fur! How much you get for fisher? Never had the opportunity to chase them. Fisher are around 100 bucks Cad HFT.for the big males, about 20 bucks less for the smaller females Primeness and clarity is what you want in a pelt for the auction. I keep a few to make hats for people, fisher makes a really nice fur hat. Fisher fur is a bit tricky to work with, hair gets longer and thicker from the head back.
