Nice bunch of rats Walt. I made it over the 100 coon mark but it took 15 days. Was very slow the last two days. Not sure if it's a moon phase thing but I've noticed poorer trapping on full moon nights. I will probably have all my coon sets pulled by Monday to get caught up in the fur shed. Good luck to all of you this weekend.

That's a boatload of coon Lance. Are you using mostly d.p.s? I took the afternoon off and got a nice limit of perch as I was getting low on fish fillets.

Mainly DP's but I did have some 160's out as well. Also caught 23 possum, lol. I'd trade you the possum for your limit of perch. laugh

Lance: Maybe Moosetrot will trade you his possum shirt for some of your grinners.

Funny Walt. I didn't save any of the possum even though they averaged 50 cents at last years FHA Auction. Good luck fishing.

Water is down in a couple river line sections. Got a couple dozen sets in. Water is still high and fast and carrying quite a bit of silt. The good news is the only sign one sees is pretty fresh. Sign is typical of an average season. I have trapped this river section since 1988.

The weather sure has been conducive to trapping but it sounds like it will turn midweek.

Nice catches to all!
I got the work taken care of and set out a few bottom edge sets yesterday. The weather has been nice. Looking like fall is coming to a close this week and hints of winter may be on the way. I hope to get in a few more bottom edge sets before freezing up. Also getting excited for walkable ice as the end of the week temps will put that at the forefront of my mind. Gun deer will be here soon too, I'll place a few fisher sets in after that as well. Good luck and have fun out there!

I pulled my traps today to get some of the fur processed and to get a little more rest. I ended up with 104 coon, 6 skunks, a fisher and way too many possum. I'll start on some water trapping after deer season. Good luck to all of you deer hunters and be safe out there.

Got the traps out of the river this AM. Got 6 rats on the 2nd check with 20 sets. Glad to have traps in the shed the next few days. High, fast water and mud all over! Spent the day paddling areas I have not trapped. Good to do something different. Probably won't set any traps in most of the area.

With rain forecasted the next couple of days and gun opener Saturday, pulled the few coon traps I had out.
Tight chains and good luck to everyone.

Forever in debt to my Father who introduced me to trapping.
May I be half the man he was.

I decided to pull my little line on Sunday, with gun season coming. With the weather we are getting now, I am doubly glad I made that decision. Wet and windy for sure.

I did leave a few water sets in the creek and pond at home, so I have something to check.

Glad to have traps out. We got 1.6 inches since yesterday afternoon. My river line is all tiled so the water rises really fast and high and then drops fast. Won't have stable water till after the gun season and we can be getting more. My planned canine line is on hold as well. Lots and lots of mud as farmers had a great fall to harvest, haul liquid manure and work in.

Those are some healthy looking flattails! I think last seasons abnormally mild winter helped out alot of various types of critters to just keep putting on the weight.

I planned to wait until after gun season for most everything but set a few 330s to help a neighbor with some beaver and of course the first thing in the door was this guy. This area is covered up in otter and I had told the neighbor this particular spring creek looked like a problem but he insisted the beaver were using the this ditch to access his marsh. At least the otter was a nice sized male and his fur was sleek and shiny!
