I have its twin that is its predecessor from Germany. 7x64, essentially the exact same and both will have no issues doing their job. Go for it, you will not be disappointed. In fact I can’t remember not liking a gun I have ever bought.

I’ve hunted with a 280 for about 40 years. It’s killed antelope to moose with a lot of deer, elk and a few black bears in between. Great caliper. Never needed to consider what gun to grab when it came time to hunt big game.

So what is everyone else shooting for bullets?

In my rem mountain rifle I used 150gr nosler partitions. I did not like that round for deer as I got the pencil affect. So 150 gr.sierra soft point on deer .my A bolt .280 did not like the noslers at all. So I used 140gr. Bear claws. I mainly used the .280 for elk. The federal accu bond in 140gr or 160 gr is a good chose also. They always try to improve on bullets that have been proven good choices too. Like the trophy bonded bear claw. Try to find a box now……….oh but wait they probably have a new better round designed by a fella who probably shot one deer.if your using the .280 for deer only just buy the federal blue box 150gr .soft point

155 Terminal Ascents have worked very well out of my 280AI. So have 145LRX. 140 Sierras shoot really little groups. If likes everything up to 168s. Easiest gun to find a load for I've ever had.
