Lake shore property is nuts here in central MN. My next door neighbor had his summer place listed for $950,000.00 and it recently sold for $1,050,000.00. To be fair, there is 196 feet of shoreline. The new owner just tore it all down including the garage with living quarters above it and is building a 6,000 Square foot two story house right next door to me along with a two story, 30X40 foot garage with a basement under part of it so he can practice his golf swings on a golf simulator. The new place will cost well over a million....probably two not including the demolition costs plus the landscaping that is to be done. He calls it his "cabin". They will use it for summer recreation . He just completed a 15,000 square foot home for himself and family in the cities. An appraiser for Lake Minnetonka just told me today that n 100 foot lot on that lake goes for 4 million bucks right now. Some people have money to spend.
