he called Monday on his lunch break and asked if he could run up to the office in Barneveld about an hour 15 for us he got out of work at 3 and started driving , they had it waiting for him at the desk

he handed them the broken one and they handed him a new one.

the reality is they only actually fix the razor and above lines.

he knew that from the tour they gave when we took our USPSA RO training at Vortex earlier that year.

It could be. I've never needed it. I have used Leupold's, which is great too.

I don’t have any crossfires but I have one diamondback and a few vipers. I also have 2 leupold vx freedoms and I prefer the 4-12 viper over all of them. The glass is better and here in Canada the 4-12 viper and 4-12 vx freedom and roughly the same price. The only good thing about the leupold is they are light.

The Crossfire line is made in China and internet reviews have not been very good. The Diamondback lines and above are made in the Phillippines, probably in the same factory as Burris and other mfgs scopes. I have a couple of Diamondback HPs and Vipers and have had no issues. I also have a couple of Leupolds, including a Freedom. The Leupold glass is better than the Vortex and I like the reticles better. The Vortex reticles are very thin. It makes them very good at the range shooting paper but more difficult to see in a low light hunting situation. Another scope you might consider is the Trijicon Huron. It has been getting high marks in reviews and I have one and like it. The published eye relief for the Hurons is less than similar Vortex or Leupold scopes but I have not had an issue with mine and it is on a rifle with a hefty recoil.

Just bought a 4 X 16X 40 mm for a rifle I am working up for my grand kids to hunt dogs with me, after having a range finder and two sets of binoc's from them for quite a while now. Price wise their is no comparison to the others in cost.

For what little shooting that this gun will be used until they are out of high school, I'm not worried about any failures, no one I know who has need to use their warranty replacement has been dissatisfied either !

I was using I high end Vortex which did not hold zero when you changes power from 10 to 18. It hit 2 inches higher at the highest magnification. Do they all do that? I don't know.

Yes...POI changes with zoom.

What? Really? I say very unacceptable to vary that much when changing magnification. Any other peeps have this problem?

Of course I don’t know the range your shooting, I would be happy with a 2” group at 1000yds

The last scope i purchased was to put on a 17hmr used for coyote hunting behind hounds and it was a Burris... ive been extremely happy with it. First time I opted for a lighted reticle and its the bees knees for what I using it for...fast aquisition on running coyotes. It replaced a Leupold that I never fell in love with. Since Nikon stopped making scopes Ive been a little lost....

Midway has the diamondback HP 4X16 on sale for $189.99. I decided to pick one up at that price so hopefully it doesn't suck! eek

2nd focal plane scopes are only correct on their highest zoom setting. It's the price you pay for having a reticle that stays the same size when changing zoom settings. You'll have to check your user's manual for the conversion at lower zoom settings.

Only thing I dont like about my vortex ( diamond back tactical) is the eye relief. Haven't messed with any of the others past just a quick look though though

BDC reticle in a Nikon Monarch changes as its zoomed.

(7mm-08 Winchester SilverTips 140gr)

Depending on distance zeroed....the POIs for each fixed reticle changes.
