Yup, deer on the Tug Hill plateau all have them. It comes from eating aquatic plants and ingesting a snail that lives on these plants.
Doesn’t seem to affect the deer health.

I like to make jerky and share it with the dogs.
It smells so strong while dehydrating it I have to do it in the shop.
It makes a mes of the dehydrator.

Love some liver and onions. Eat it alone most of the time. Not many around me like it. But thats OK.

Well cooked liver with flukes & eggs should pose no health concerns. Eating raw and fresh may allow transfer of the pest from an infected liver.

Nowadays internal organ meats from wildlife can be high in heavy metals in some areas.
An occasional meal in those areas is probably OK for a grown man,but wouldnt want to make it a steady part of the diet.
Moose calf liver is one of my favorite.

For me, it's the heart that's a delicacy, and the first thing eaten. Don't care for liver.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

Funny ...... many of the folks that frown on eating fresh, wild organ meat usually LOVE processed hot dogs, chicken nuggets and turkey burgers grin

Anyone else save the tongue? I'm not much for liver but always save the heart and tongue.

I agree. Now if deer just had a gizzard instead of a liver they would be the perfect critter.
