Can you tell the difference between a #1 red fox pelt and a #2? Do you know what a blue pelt is? I could go on and on and on
But I don't want you to accuse me of being a meanie head

Before u jump in….. Work or volunteer at a local fur buyer, skin, remove glands, skulls etc. Learn how to sew holes. They might work a deal with your labor. Learn how to tan w citric acid, there is a Mennonite guy near me that does a great home tan. Just picked up foxes and skunks from him.

Dont try to sell fur to a trapper. Trappers sell fur not buy it. Finished product is a different story.Almost all trappers in northern climes wear fur. They either make their own or get what they need made by someone out of their own fur.
Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

I can't do this till I'm 18 tho, if I buy it stretched and dried for let's say $8 with this crappy fur market, tan it and sell it for $50 or even $70 that's like 80 to 90% profit. And to tan will only cost me about $1 using trubond because you don't use the whole entire kit of stuff. Spend $9 make $50 $50-$9 = $41 profit

NTO - I think you need to rethink your math!!
Do some on line research as to what tanned pelts sell for. The profit margarine you mentioned is unrealistic!!!
In addition to all the individuals selling tanned furs, there are dozens of business.
Moscow Hide & Fur Glacier Wear Paulette Fur Company Dakota Line fur Groenwald - they sell tanned fur in addition to buying raw fur Minnesota Trapline F&T The list goes on and on What $50 hides? That's all over ebay

Something tells me you have zero interest in skinning or in any way processing your own animals.Even the deer you just shot you had someone else butcher because you "Didnt feel like skinning it".Seems to me you like the IDEA of being a Woodsman,,,but have zero gumption to do any of the actual WORK it involves (lazy) .Would rather just talk about it on the computer. Not trying to be a meanie,,but this is what Im seeing.Hope you can take this as some constructive criticism.

Actually... I love to skin and and process animals, I always help other people do it to. We did that not because I was "lazy" and didn't want to do it, it's because that guy is like that best at getting the best cut on the meat and everything Now I do hate fleshing coons cuz I suck at it but other than that I love everything It was more about the meat than skinning, me and my dad suck at cutting the meat off of deer, we get like a certain amount of a same size deer he gets like 5 more pounds then us. It's just his cuts
