They could just plant one and let it grow. Won't cost to much to put the lights on the first few years, just a few more lights each year as it grows. Will last for years.

That's what they really should do as the grand finale after they've displayed a tree from every national forest, but they should transplant a decent sized one instead of a sapling

This is why our country is in the debt crisis we are in. I guess to some, certain wasteful spending is ok if it’s only a measly $150,000. Getting a Xmas tree from every national forest is meaningless for most people/taxpayers. I hope Elon and Vivek look into this, it’s a easy one.

My point in posting is the waste. As I read these posts, I find it interesting the varying responses. Some support getting the tree, others like me see the waste of money. Not the tree itself but the amount of money spent. I would ask isn't this pork barrel spending exactly how we have gotten into this financial mess we are in. Each time an item is added to a spending bill for the frivolous items in each congressman's own district. They each think it's great for their district but we all pay for the extravagances.

I am not condemning anyone's view, just my thoughts.

If that tree was/is financed at 5% and payed off, never. What's the real cost, good point dirt. Most of these positive tree pushers must have Gov. jobs or failed budget 101. lol
