Being public you just have to tolerate it until he/she starts messing with your stuff
Maybe a new trapper that does not really know better? He could be a new guy, I didn't approach his sets, but the boxes are brand new wood, and I looked through my binos, the traps are shiny new too. Not to say none of us buy new gear, but his boxes aren't a very practical design or size either, it's all kind of pointing to new guy

Years ago i was informed that the road system in south central has turned into a free for all. The term that was used to describe it was.. The lower 48 memtality .

Yeah, I'm not impressed so far, but I haven't been on the road system long enough to really know how the etiquette works. But I was left alone last season, so I was foolish enough to have that expectation for this year too. And on the flip side, if I showed up in September to cut open trails and found another guy there doing the same, I would introduce myself, shoot the s*** for a bit, and leave him alone. I guess we aren't all the same though

… I have that issue hunting public land around here… people know I kill deer and will look for my truck… next thing you know somebody is in there … usually in a bad setup but enough activity to blow the deer out …. I just go on to the next one… they usually have stupid stickers on their truck lol
Insert profound nonsense here

If the marten population is as bad as it is here this year, i would quit and let the new guy check empty traps. I'm strongly considering it. I'm gonna keep trapping otter on the creek, but I'll probably let him have the 2 marten that'll come through all season. I have to go check on my cabin in SE for a few days, I can pick up a few down there pretty fast, they hang around by my place (they're actually a nuisance even though I do enjoy seeing them and being able to trap them on my porch). As long as you are going into the area to chase otters I would NOT pull my other gear. You may not catch the two marten but there is no reason for unilateral surrender.

If there are only a couple martin there I would not set it anyway. If it's a new trapper you may run across him someday .Buy him a beer and get to know him. He may not know its not ethical to set on top of someone. Better to be a friend than an enemy in this case. Always a few martin around

You would not like how coon trapping was several years ago in Iowa. 2-3 guys set under a bridge. It happened, but fortunately it wasn't every bridge.
