round here they would call that a Pasty

traditionally it is cubed or ground meat , carrot and potato or rutabaga it is Cornish food

a Proper Cornish pasty is said to have a tough enough crust that wrapped in a cloth it can be dropped to the bottom of a mine shaft in a 1800s mine should a guy have left his lunch topside , they ate the pasty and left the crimped crust for the tommy knockers.
