Said I was done with puppies or another dog. Truth is I really haven't had a dog of my own for many years. The last two labs that I worked were actually my son's dog's. The other fuzz ball little girls are my wife's babies. I've been struggling with the idea of a lab of my own for at least a year. My wife kept saying here is a litter in such and such city.. I'm like I'm not getting a puppy from 2 hours away unless I know the breeder or can visit at least couple times . But After watching to many lab videos on the net. The wife says here is some one with black lab puppies, Only 15 minutes away. Do you want to go look?? I'm a sucker and I ended up with first pick female. Here is my baby. Her name is Sitka.. I can't explain that name choice later if anyone is interested.. But my wife didn't like it.. lol. I first held her at two weeks old. Decided she was the one at 4 weeks old, brought her home last Wednesday she was 8 weeks old on Friday. I haven't decided yet, now that I'm a cripple. Just how much Im going to train her to do as far as hunting or retrieving. I may have bite off more than I can handle? Will see? . Like my past labs she will be going lots of places with me.. I hope I'm not in trouble she's a handfull. Mac

Cute Pup! I have struggled with wanting another too. I am lost without one but enjoy the freedom to travel by not having one too.
I have nothing clever to put here.

Good-looking pup. My youngest is a two-year-old black female. She's one of the smarter labs I've owned and I've owned lots. She was my first female, always had males until the family talked me into trying a girl. I'm glad I did.
Something I've always done with all my labs in addition to daily hunt/fetch training is play frisbee with them. It's a great way to burn off their excess energy and it's easy to do. I use the Hyper Pet 9" soft discs. If you can fling one of them it's a great way to exercise them without wearing yourself out.
Mine start at heel and catch them, return to heel and take off immediately for the next throw. All the while running at full-speed. Five or ten minutes is all that's needed to run them to near exhaustion and they love it. It really helps to keep their energy at tolerable levels.
Eh...wot?

Pup that isnt a handful wont amount to anything. Dogs are good for your mental health.

I'd hate like ---- to leave a Beagle or 3 behind when I die, but I just can't see living at all without a hound underfoot or on MY chair.
