Scraping coon this morning. Been killing all my coon with a Death Ray. It leaves a significant burn mark on the leather side. It looks like the coon has been snared. Will a guy get docked because of that?

No. If a buyer wants to doc you, walk away and find an honest buyer. A snare burn has red around the cable mark, not present with the mark left by a DR.

You'll find that as it dries that fades away a little bit. I've never been docked for it

Here's a couple fresh like your picture:

Those same 2 are on the left in this picture. This second picture is from the next day. You can see how once the pelt starts to dry the line fades

And then a few lined up a couple days later....can't hardly see marks minus the fresh one

I have found that if you catch and freeze, that the mark will freezer burn, making it white. I would guess that is caused from the pressure squeezing the fat from under the cable, allowing it to freezer burn while in the freezer. That is the way I have always handled my trapping, but have never had anything graded down from it, either at international auctions or local buyers. JFYI
