trapping rats is fun but if you have obvious rat problems you have a lot of rats, as fast as they breed it may take awhile and you probably won't get them all. For outside the home rats it's hard to beat rat blocks, change to a different formula after a week or so. It will knock them down fast. Never used the bombs, not sure how that would work with an extensive tunnels, but YMMV They are like smoke bombs, But with a leaf blower smoke will fill the tunnels and you have a one time stink for a couple of days not a stink for a month and rats that catch the poison as fast as you put it out. The smoke bombs are less than 10 dollars for 5.

There could be a lot of rats and trapping them will never rid you of them. I would make a trip to your local farm store and purchase some rodent bombs (look like a big fire cracker) light one up put it down the hole as far as you can and use a leaf blower to force smoke down the tunnels. Done in one time. or plug the hole with a rag A leaf blower distributes the smoke although I have done it both ways

Rats when poisoned or killed by poison or trapping will sometimes move to another place. I want them dead now!

I don’t like poison. I have owls in my woods and do not want them subject to possible secondary poisoning…

Well I only had 0 longsprings and they had runs going through the dirt so I made a indent so the trap wouldn’t be crazy high up and I put a tad bit of straw on it and they would be dead when I found em. For stake I pushed a concrete stake like 6 inches in the ground and slid the trap ring over the top of it

Get yourself a Rat Terrier, they’re born and bred for killing rats, google it you’ll be surprised

A couple boys with 22’s, rat shot and flash lights. If outside and distance is greater switch to 410. Let the slaughter begin. Forgot to add, shooters have better luck when elevated. Loft or roof with lawn chairs. Been there done that as a kid. Yes sir hours in my uncles barn loft at night with .22 or .20 cal air gun with some corn on the floor of an empty stall. Great entertainment and about the only entertainment on evenings after hunting all day.
