I led a small army of other guys. We mostly fought imaginary Russians, though we did have an enemy group of girls, for a few months, before many of us started dating them.
I would take good clay from a pit, roll it in pea gravel in layers, to make bigger than softball size mud balls, that I baked in the sun. I had each of my troops carry a pillowcase of 12 of the balls. I also made clay mud balls, spiked with honey locust thorns, stuck on a stick, so you could fling it. I invented a weapon I called a thriff bar, which was a hollow pithed stick, with two sharp, fire hardened, end spikes, with a 16 penny nail, file sharpened, with the head cut off placed in the hollow part. It was a thrusting weapon that you could also throw nails into trees with.
I made bows out of heavy honeysuckle and nylon string. I made arrows out of cattails, with the tops cut off. I would lay the shafts on my basement floor to dry. I took 16 penny, file sharpened nails, with the heads cut off and duct taped them to the cattail shafts for arrowheads. We had to carry hammers to pull them out of trees.
I took a thatch rake apart, took the blade like teeth, sharpened them on a grinding wheel and put them in the split ends of heavy ash sticks. I bound the stick tight with wire, on both sides to hold the blades in place.
I took broken tool handles and drilled them full of holes, on one end and then drove 16 penny nails through them to make heavy maces.
I made wood knives and spears, mostly out of ash. I pounded soup can lids into spear heads.
I made 4' sections of swing chain for us to fight with.
I dug pits and filled the bottoms with honey locusts thorns and punji sticks. I covered the pits with thin sticks and then the light debris from the forest floor, so you couldn't see them.
I built rock forts out of limestone, with a shaped, straight inner wall, rubble in the middle and a sloping outer wall. I later found out that design was thousands of years old. The forts were very hard to destroy.
I dug fox holes out of ground hog holes, we could slip into.
I trained the other guys in using the weapons in volleys, baiting the enemy in, getting them to chase us through the pit traps and then ambushing them with the thriff bars, maces and chains. 11 guys I "trained" ended up later joining the military.

No rock but I did get a cut tearing out shower walls this morning. We had BB gun battles when we were kids, no pump-up guns, ours were all lever action Daisy’s. The rule was no shooting at the head, some kids cheated.
Eh...wot?

I was dall sheep hunting one time in The Chugach mts when a rock came off the mountain side and whacked me right square in a moose antler belt buckle I was wearing. No damage to me but that buckle had one of my ivory traps inlaid into the antler. Totally smashed the trap! Reminds me of a quote from George Castansa…. The water is cold.....lol..... sorry about the buckle.,, happy for your privates.....
