I've been using a .177 caliber Gamo pellet gun for the last 2 seasons. Rated at 1,200 FPS, which is faster than a .22 short. (1,045 FPS) Has done well for me on everything from Racoon to Coyote...1 shot and Over... Bought a Gamo years ago for big $. Was most inaccurate POS I ever owned. Would not shoot 1.5" group off sand bags at 10 yards. For years every time walk past my workbench would see and cuss that gun. Told a hillbilly at work and he had to have and sold for $40. Came in on Monday to tell me what a accurate gun I sold him. Everybody idea of accuracy is different. Now wish had back for dispatch gun because was powerful. Would probably try to dispatch a skunk and graze its testicle getting sprayed in process.

.22 caliber should be sufficient but i would be looking for a .25 for the added thump
For those using an airgun do you earhole or heart? This^^^ .25 is a good step up from .22 when talking airguns. Any .25 caliber airgun/pellet combo can easily handle dispatch duties. Head shooting...25 is a dome cracker. For heart shooting I prefer .22 LR with the segmented bullets.

i have used my stogeor .177 pellet gun to dispatch coyotes works really well at close range 10 ft or closer but it also shoots 1000ft per second The air rifle you posted for use on coyote.......what model is it and how is it energized/charged.......cannot use firearm due to neighborhood.... thinking of air for coyote dispatch
Not a pro trapper....only cage trap racoon, skunk, possum, groundhog taking residence in barn that refuse to pay rent

You have to take the advertised fps with a grain of salt as those numbers are with crazy lightweight pellets, not anything you would use normally. My diana .177 get about 850 and the .22 gets around 700 fps and they both get it done with no problems. Most give two numbers, one for lead pellets and one for alloy.
