Was reading the other thread about holiday cooking and what the old folks used to make. My grandparents always had a bowl of boiled pepperoni hunks any time we had a big meal. And fried potato wedges, never hardly ever had mashed potatoes. My great grandmother apparently always had hot dogs around a roasted Turkey or chicken. Have any of you tried boiled pepperoni? You ought to! My Pap was Russian and Grandma was Croatian and they insisted on boiling it because only the Italians ate it “raw”!

Wow, Italians in Montana? I know we get around but still, lol My kids moved to Texas, not enough Italians there to split a pizza!, I wish my grandfather had come out this way when he came to America, both he and my grandmother came from rural places in Italy, grandpa down by the coast and grandma up in the hills, but there was some kin already here in Chicago so he went there. It took a another generation to finally bring some culture out to these "wegians" , they only good thing they have is leftsa, which I do like. Otherwise it's no wonder the vikings went off pillaging, their food at home sucked

, My fathers people came from Calabria, the poorest region of Italy, still is, tough, thick headed people, , but they came out on the Island avoiding the city...did the work white people wouldn't do, LMAO My brother in law, full blooded Italian landed in Minnesota doctoring, he was a big hit with the girls, apparently olive skin and dark hair was a novelty....and it was easy to pick him out of the sea of blondes.... Good talking to you paison...

Dont eat pepperoni much, just some pepperets in my pocket when out trapping. I eat a lot of boiled meat I will try the boiled pepperoni. Do you boil it whole or cut it in chunks before boiling?
Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

I have no desire to boil it, but I highly recommend grilled peperoni. It grills quick, take it off before you think you should. The taste resembles pepper bacon.
Next time you're grilling burgers, put some peperoni slices on the grill for a few minutes. They're great on a burger. That sounds great! I put pepperoni in my macaroni salad and it makes a big difference
