Yes, it's a brown trout. I was fishing a native brook trout stream and was very surprised to catch this brown trout
He must have moved up from the larger creek

It looks emaciated.

Not good feed this time of year in our small brooks especially for larger fish. He was probably in heaven when you saw that lure come by.

brown trout spawn in late fall.
I would bet thats a female.

They get pretty thin around this time of year.

By looking at the bottom jaw it looks like a male
