Deer, heck. How about another trapper "messing" with your gear? More than once I've had something stolen or a "stick" stuck between the closed trap jaws on my next check! UNCOOL!

If it has urine deer will drive you nuts. Some will say I’m crazy but loosen your pans up so they flop. No tension. Place your trap like normal. Then move over to the left and place another about 8 to 10 inches from first one. Guide stick on right side of set about like your thumb stick about size of a pencil between the traps sprinkle gras over the dirt on trap on the left. I’d use hawbakers Wiley red and small squirt of fox pee on the backing. If that don’t produce sell out. This time of year I used chunk of deer meat with beaver caster mixed Aged in glass jar in the sun for couple days for bait in the hole.
