Alaska's salvage law requires the hunter to keep the meat in a state fit for human consumption for 2 weeks. After that you can throw it away. Can't use game meat for bait except bones, hide, and viscera. Special cases allow use as bait such as road kill.

Crazy law. Here we look at the antlers for a couple minutes then get the real trophy home (The meat)

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

Holy smokes, that’s awesome Bruce! You better keep an online journal on here for us.
Watch out for signs of getting “bushed”, if you notice signs, get out to civilization for a night or 2. Sometimes it’s comical, but can be deadly.

Typical out of state hunters. Very few bring the meat back or all of the meat back. Then the outfitter or guides are stuck with it. Just imagine how many thousands of pounds of fish and game get dumped in the trash annually in Alaska....

I really do hate tourism.

Technically sure. He isn't really what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the cruise ships and busses full of them, as well as the hoards of them that show up at every airport in the state toting gun/rod cases and trampling one another to go stand shoulder to shoulder on the Russian river somewhere. Sounds like Bruce is looking for a different experience than most of the crowd who come here all summer.

Good deal! Take a ton of pics from your adventure to share one day.

Most here are just looking out for you. These types of "jobs" pop up every year at lodges throughout the state, and some are better than others. Things to be thinking about, such as how is the cabin or lodge you will be staying in heated? Plenty of fuel? How about water? Cooking? Laundry that isn't shut down for the winter? PLENTY of gas for at least two snow machines? Where are spare parts? Do you know how to take apart and put back together a snow machine? Repair a boiler, generator, etc?
All that, and anything else that you can think of. Number one rule: BE SAFE. Before heading out, double check everything....EVERYTHING. Including snowshoes and survival gear. And a small heat source.
I don't know where this place is, but I don't think there is anywhere in the state that can't kill you.
I we will be rooting for you, especially getting a wolverine!
I believe bearbait finally got his, as well as a wolf or two.
Oh, that reminds me, be thinking about fur handling and preservation. You might need more than a few stretchers and ask if they still have lots of salt. Figure out how to get them to the lodge. What size plane are they sending you out in? And what size coming out?
You will need to know that.

Just doing what I want now.

The lodge is very nice.Been in contact also with the former owners for years.white17 know them and the lodge well.Theres running water and plenty of firewood. Two snowmobiles.200 gallons of gas for the snowmobiles.Have repaired snowsleds before.Rode and been around them my whole life.Allways double check everything then check again. At least two pairs of snowshoes.Going to fly in to the nearest village where he wilkl pick me up by boat.Survival gear is always important to have including stuff to get a fire going quickly.Suppose to be all kinds of stretchers and traps there.Plus I will bring a bunch of snares with me.Suppose to be some food but will bring enough with me as well.Theres a bunch of stuff to go thru and prepare for sure.Thank you and everybody for all your help.

I know this is all a ways off but do you already have a taxi to do the wolverine? How does he prefer to have it skinned? How will you get the skin to him/her? Lots of stuff to think about but lots time to think.
