First marten of the year! It was a bummer it ruined a lynx set, but it’s better than nothing!

Line update: yesterday I set 5 more marten boxes, 3 lynx cubbies, and 2 sets for wolves.

Hope to see some return on my investment!

I went to climb a mountain yesterday and cut trail. Stuck on frozen dirtsickle first hill. Comealong catch froze up, so had to keep beating it closed every crank with wire snips. First tree I want to cut, chainsaw won't run. Carb won't supply fuel. Must be froze up. So much for cutting. Since I took the VK to make that first hill, I almost broke a leg about three times stopping it from tipping on all the humps. I ran through and over hundreds of devils club. Not a bad day. I still have a windshield and didn't get any new devils club thorns festering in me today.

Sounds like an awesome day! grin
Devils Club is a horrible plant. I did a deer hunt in Hoonah and there was a lot of devils club that I had to weave thru

Devils club is my favorite plant to kill with a snowmachine. They are nice and brittle when it's cold ( -10F or so) a lot snap right off. smile

They almost aways get some revenge though. frown

Devils club is easier to avoid than stinging nettles. I seem to find the nettles anytime I do not have gloves on.

It’s been a slow season here, for me.

Devils club is the worst. I've been b slapped by more than a few of them. The inside makes a nice salve though, helps with cuts and bruises. So after you roll through a patch, take some with you, it'll help you feel better lol

Good to see some fellow Alaskan trappers here!

What’s it like on Kodiak Island? I’ve never been there.

If you are into fat, greasy foxes... Kodiak is the place to go!

Nope…I think I’ll stick with a lot of marten, instead of one of those greasy beasts!
