I quit accepting fire calls to California after 2020. They refuse to manage their forests and rangeland, so why should anyone want to go help them? 2020 put it in perspective for me, I drove through a blackened moonscape for 5 hours (through the center of the burn) if they can just let a million + acres go up in smoke and not change management tactics, they don't need the help that bad.
1995 was my last time there. I have never had poison Ivy/Oak/Sumac so bad in my life! My eyes swelled shut and my nasal passage was severely restricted. We were cutting line through that stuff and it was 8 feet tall. No thank you!

California is a beautiful place, which attracted waaay too many people. There isn't enough fresh water anywhere to support that many people. We were designed to destroy ourselves. Call me crazy. Like Marty!

Due to DEI, there's a 7 year wait for white men to take the test to become a Los Angeles firefighter. Blacks can immediately take the test, once it's offered. They spent several times more on DEI hiring than it would of cost to make the fire hydrants contain water and work.

Cabbage head Biden just happened to be in LA today. He had a news conference addressing the fire disaster. He said it was a bad deal, but on a good note he said he was glad that his son’s house didn’t burn down and he was a new great grandpa. This dude can’t be playing with a full deck.

Just before I retired there was a product being developed in Australia that was Corn Starch based that looked like it may work but was short lived (hours). I would find it hard to believe that some sort of long term fire retardant could last 8 months and still allow plants to photosynthesize and live.
I have nothing clever to put here.

Now they are running out of water. I wonder how that could be? Ten years ago they voted to build more water reservoirs, they have been collecting the tax money they voted on themselves, but zero reservoirs have been built. Not at all surprising.

I read they have 3 separate tanks, each holding a million gallons of water and they had run dry.

The news reports say they spent the 400 million recently given to them to build water infrastructure, by biden, to run water into the Pacific Ocean to help a species of smelt. Apparently the smelt is rare in Los Angeles, but common elsewhere and in no danger of going extinct. Liberal priorities are moronic.

Sadly, they aren't allowed to catch the smelt to eat in California.
It's been probably 4 or 5 years since I had smelt. They were frozen and not as good as fresh.
Can you dip smelt near where you live and trap?
When I was little, we lived in East Lansing, Michigan, while my dad was in grad school. When the smelt would start running good, somebody would run into the lab and tell everyone. The chemistry students would stop what they were doing, grab their gear, rush to the water and start dipping loads of smelt into clean garbage cans.

I have not been able to get my head around the fact that these people live on the ocean and are running out of water to fight fire. This is just plain out stupidity at its finest.

Right here. They can deal with Mother Nature and let her run the course, she can be heartless.

After the smoke clears....those on the left coast will change nothing!
There has to be a great movie somewhere there. Maybe a family being told to evacuate and as they are on the way out the mother turns around and lusts after the Hollywood sign and all it represented in the past. She may well change for the worse, if that is possible.
