We started the day at 12 degrees. I used a masonry bit and a pick ax to make all sets. I am sure we will have more than a few raccoons and possum to thin out. We are going to find out if the local coyotes will tolerate the Michigan waxed sand mixed with the drips of snot that were ever present throughout the day. Definitely feeling fat and old by the time we got back to the hotel. I will post end of the day picks if we have any success tomorrow. Supposed to be 16 degrees tonight, I would imagine these southern critters will probably be hunkered down. Guessing it will be a few days before our whole line is in.

Supposed to snow on Thursday. Pretty sure the town will shut down. Seems people just stay home when it's cold or snowy down here.

Probably not like they will further down here in my part of Texas (NE)
Even if you want to get out in it you are risking the idiots who have no idea how to drive in it running over you wink

Luckily when it does show up here it only lasts a few days and things are back to normal

I grew up in northeast Texas. Didn’t trap then but always hunted. Seems like the cold got them moving good, but it was the ice storms that would make them hunker down. Have to agree with BTLowry about folks not knowing how to drive in the snow and ice. lol.

Pretty dismal results today - coons. We continued to set traps and spent a little time checking out some wild pig sign as that's not something we're familiar with, might see if we can get one to step in a k9junior. I would imagine tomorrow will be a little more productive but guessing the 2 inches of snow will show us some walk bies.

K9 jr will hold a sholt but pigs over 30lbs pull out pretty easy. I had two on my line today.

Caught and held an 80 lb sow last week in a bridger #3. If you have any bigger traps it’s definantly possible. Caught her on a tbone set.

Bare ground is why we make the trip. I am pretty sure the no bs will hold, just a matter of putting the trap where they will be stepping. I don't know how big of an area they cover. Thinking about chumming the area with my dp bait - cat food with cherry essence and barbecue sauce, then blind setting the trails.
