I'm glad this message is finally taking hold. There have been Dr's on Youtube channels explaining this for years.

And as we all know, cut back on your carb intake. Replace it with more fat as mentioned above. And keep your protein intake up.

Mostly 90% backn grease used here. heck been known to buy and cook bacon just because we were getting low on grease. But now I have been cooking g when I'm away AR work mostly eggs and bacon on a electric griddle and the grease runs into a collection tray so I get a quart or so I save a month and bring that home for the wife.

Amazing how all the stuff we have been told about healthy eating was a lie and it's just the opposite.

Not everything was a lie. I am pretty sure arsenic, a 100% naturally occurring organic compound is still unhealthy. So is hemlock.

Lard, butter, and rendered beef fat in our house as well. Olive oil on occasion.

People always talk about grandmas cooking being better than theirs. We decided to use ingredients that grandma used to use and our food started tasting better than grandmas!

For all you extreme healthers out there - start to read up on pfos/pfas/pfoa and then consider your butter and what its wrapped in and the skillet you are using etc.....like anything teflon coated or non-stick and many other food serving and storing devices - course its in many of your waters as well.

We all gotta die. While I am here though I feel much more energetic when I eat red meat and fat. Stay away from grain sugar and potatoes. High fructose syrup and artificial sweetener's. Cook in cast iron. Forage a few wild greens and mushrooms. Eat wild caught fish. Use real butter. been having skin cancer cut off every couple years though. This is round three. Like I said, I feel better eating that way. Blood sugar is good again, blood pressure back down and off the pills. Spent all my young years out in the sun. Hated school and didnt go much in spite of the adults in my lifes best efforts. Outside as much as I can as an adult. Maybe lots of sun is the catalyst? Who knows. 100 years ago that cancer would have eventually killed me and probably not been diagnosed. When it is my turn chances are good 100 years later whatever kills me will have a better treatment.

Yes, still lots of junk in our food, highly processed food is the worst offender, real food has less, and you can't escape a lot of it anyway so you do the best you can.
I tell people "nobody gets out of here alive, when it's your turn, you get on the bus to your next destination"
What's the point in living longer if your in a nursing home?

Right there with you on that Danny. Doctor told me the stuff their cutting off my face is mainly sun damage.

I don't go out of my way to avoid eating or using certain things. Im one them people who heard at a young age. All things in moderation. So I took that as good advice.
What the guys here are talking about doing. Is a lot of what I remember my grandmother and mother doing when I was a kid.
It's nothing new
My Mom fried eggs and potatoes in bacon grease. I used bacon grease like butter. Because it was always saved and what we had. My mother came from very poor back ground. Even lived in an orphanage for a while when her mom was institutionalized.
My grandmother on dads side was a farm girl. She taught my mom a lot. How they cooked and used things back when I was a kid. Lot of that is now new again to save your self from processed food.
What the doctors have told me is try not to use as much processed food. That can be tough to do when even my home made summer sausage they consider processed. Not quitting that..
None of us going to live forever. I believe now that we are all a product of our genetics. How what we eat and what we are exposed to effects those genetics is different for each of us..
I try to do as I have always done. Avoid what I know is straight up bad. Not going to eat beans cooked in lead pot. But not afraid of melting lead making my own sinkers or bullets.
We each need to find our own recipe for life. Just how it is..

Mac

Olive oil and peanut oil are about all we use. And bacon grease of course.

find a butcher shop and get it there. Last beef we had butchered I had them save the fat and suet for me. A lot of info on you tube on how to make it. I just melted around 5 lbs of suet to make into suet cakes for my use and for the bird feeder. I will use a cup cake tin and use foil back cup cake paper . Melt your suet and strain it. then pour it into the cupcake tin. when set up I will put them in the freezer. Whenever I need any, for my use or the bird feeder I will go out and get a couple out of the freezer and use them.

Real butcher shops are rare anymore here, nothing but boxed meat re sellers... Maybe restaurant depot, but it would probably already be processed.

We use olive oil, coconut oil, avacado oil, butter, sesame oil, peanut oil, canola oil, and a couple others from time to time. There are many oils for many applications in the culinary world. I use what is needed for the dish.

It's not necessarily to live longer but also for the quality of life, sounds like your planning on going to a nursing home, I'm not!!

Butter, bacon grease, lard, and a little olive oil here

The only thing "vegetable" oil is good for is seasoning a new cast iron pan.

I'm no doctor, but I'll ask you this...

How many times have "the experts" reversed themselves on the health risks/benefits of various food items?

think: coffee, eggs, bran, etc.

I'd be willing to bet that within a few years, another "expert" will be saying that seed oils are fine.

but don't take MY word on it.

I don't think so, because the producers needed the experts to back their product.
Same as margarine , pure crap bad for your health.
Made as turkey fattener, and it killed the turkeys!
Or so they say.
I have always tried to stay with natural foods, fats, and grains.
I also don't believe in organic vegetables , at least not in the last 40 years.
When I was a kid, few bugs destroyed our garden, now days there's a new bug every year , it seems.
Go ahead and try growing vegetables without some kind of bug repellent.
Only thing I've found is a floating row cover, but it doesn't help with plants that need pollination from insects .

I also only use plain aspirin for pain relief.
Don't trust those other products.
