Good deal coop. You fellas sure have some nice soil to work with. Appears to be very sandy. Guess since you are not far from the shore.

We do Bob... nice loamy, sandy farm field soil. I carry a premixed peat/ antifreezed dirt mix in a 10 qt. pail to every set... often get a bucket to take home from the edges of the catch circle. I haven't carried a sifter in years.
You're right on the shore... maybe 12 or 13 miles to the closest beach in Lewes from my house.

Easy coop, they’re coming. Headed up the coastal bay front here from the south. Every year further North. Had 6 last year. None where I started this year near 90, but both farms I’m setting south near home had plenty of coyote sign.

Coyotes started moving into my trapping area at least twenty years ago. The population increased quickly then dwindled or a five-six year periodfor whatever reason. It has remained fairly stable since.

I've only caught a handful in my fox traps over the years. I used to make dedicated coyote sets near the fox sets but stopped after about two years of ineffectiveness.

Everyone told me they would decimate the red fox population but I have not seen that. My catch numbers are down slightly but that is due to other factors: mainly a guy who free-ranged over a hundred chickens, ducks and geese on one of the properties I trap. He did that for many years and that place was good for 25-30 fox a season. He has moved and the poultry is no longer there. Now that farm is good for 5-10 fox a season.

There is another farm on my line where the situation is similar but on a smaller scale.

Eh...wot?
