for all you that like to travel up from the united states to ice fish all the main areas that people visit 95% of operators have some or all huts out with the expections of being at 100% operational by next weekend but still check with your local operators as there is variable ice coditions around 3-8 inches of ice some of the main lake still has less than 3 inches

I took my first trip to Simcoe back in 1982, went for many years after with my Dad. Fished thru the ice there 3 trips one winter. Mostly we fished around Sutton side of the lake. We made several trips up in the month of October with the boat too, great lake to fish for sure.

if you fished here in the 80s and 90s was some of the best fishing anyone could experience from monster lakers, whitefih and pike huge schools of smelt and herring and jumbo perch the lake still offers most species but the huge schools of herring and smelt are gone

Yes sir, lots of fond memories up there. We caught smelt thru the ice off Snake Island one year, fished after dark, smelt were right under the ice. We brought a lot home! There was no limit on perch back then, I saw a 5 gallon bucket with 51 jumbos in it and it wouldn't hold another fish, those were the days for sure. Casey from Port Bolster knew me and my Dad by name, RIP Casey. I enjoyed some beautiful sunrises and sunsets on that lake.
