son got us one of these , I would put the dog water out on the porch , take the wife to the Dr and it would be froze up before we got home.

this was -14 yesterday the ice crystals are kind of pretty , at 0 it is only like a 1/4 inch



I think it is 6 or 7 gallon been very handy , the dogs have a big dog house for when we are gone truck topper on wood sides and it has straw in there for them to get out of the weather and keep warm.

Interesting sights here this morning. No one here has seen this much snow here.

I've been looking for wolverine and polar bear tracks all morning.

And marten tracks too.

yall need to look on the brite side , this is the perfect time to go cut fire wood , the snow should have all the snakes moving really slow.

and you just take the hood off that old chevy in the yard and you can skid the wood out well on that sled

No need for firewood....dont have a fireplace or wood heater.

I was thinking about these ol'cottonmouths this morning. I hope they all froze to death!

LOL, I doubt that will happen. I recall folks saying that one upside to the -70 temps in Alaska when I was there, was that it would help decrease the mosquito population. I think it did just the opposite. There seemed to be more mosquitos the following summer than previously.

not very scientific but it seems like places with a long skeeter season get some here and some there and a short skeeter season you get them all crammed in 90 days and they are so thick you fill a windshield with them driving down the road a few miles.

mostly bugs stop moving and then re-animate when it warms up
we get wasps that ride in on the fire wood often enough they may have just been frozen for two months but as soon as they warm up they are back to flying.

This stuff is not snow......it's more ice pellets. It'll pack but not very good....crumbles easily....mostly ice....no flakes.




Talked with a cuz that lives 40 miles north and he got 4" and he says it's dry and fluffy.

Gonna be a plumbing nightmare once this thaws for me.

I caught a under ice beaver today! For entertainment i watched a blue herron jumping all over the place trying to figure out what that solid sheet of ice was that use to be water, lol. Critter's all confused by all this stuff.

Got our water thawed and a leak fixed. Grandson sure pulled his weight today.
