Anyone have any experience with this organic compound as a lure ingredient?

Never heard of it before. Curious why the intrest in it as a lure ingredient.

Anesthetic effects.
Quinaldine has been used for fish anesthesia and is more commonly used for collection of fish in tide pools and coral reefs than is tricaine. In higher concentrations, it can cause a rapid induction. Recovery characteristics are more variable than with tricaine, in part because of the relatively uncontrolled dosing that occurs with the drug in some applications. Quinaldine often does not completely stop muscle movement, and many anesthetists find it more appropriate for sedation than for induction of surgical anesthesia. Long-term sedation/anesthesia has been associated with mortality (Yanar and Kumlu, 2000). Quinaldine can be an irritant to gills and cause corneal damage, particularly when administered at high concentrations for rapid immobilization in captures or when using unbuffered stock solutions administered directly onto the fish rather than mixing the stock into the anesthesia bath water (Stoskopf, 1993).

" Four volatile chemical compounds have been identified as apparently unique constituents in urines of red foxes (both sexes) during the winter season when mating occurs. Quinaldine was found only in male fox urine. Several other compounds identified are found in other species too. Some or all of these compounds may function in olfactory communication in the red fox."

Got this quote from a canine book I bought. (To be fair to the author I won't mention the book or his name.) Just got my curiosity up about some of the commercial lures out there.

How would mentioning the book or the author be unfair to him? He wrote it and but his name on it then charged people for it.
If it was a top shelf ingredient i doubt you would get a commercial lure maker to admit to using it if they were since it's not a common know ingredient.

So it sounds like a territorial response would be the desired result if using it in a matrix lure?? Just a guess.

I always question the usage and attractiveness of an ingredient until I've seen multiple coyotes reaction to it. Just too many unproven thoughts and theories floating around out there to know for sure without asking the animals themselves.

Even the person that you quoted above didn't know what the animals reaction was too it or they wouldn't have used the word "may" in the last sentence.

why would you use just one component of urine, when you could more easily use the WHOLE deal?

I get close to a gallon or so of bladder urine every year... was thinking of this as additive to it to make it more attractive and louder/stronger... just a thought. I've added commercial gland lure to it for a long time, always looking for that edge.

Yes sir... anything in his book IS now available to be bought, borrowed, copied, passed on, etc. I would not get on here personally and say so and so wrote a book and said this in it... just me I guess.

If you want stronger pee you can set it outside in cold weather or in a freezer. skim off ice crystals as they form.

Hard to improve upon what is made organically by the body and nature. The key has always been to use it to your advantage in the right locations and to understand its value.

I know you're right Bob... always looking for that "one little thing"... you know how it is.
