Nothing major. Just a broken front shock. It killed my weekend plans to get more traps out though and then costed my some wolves on the way to town. I tried though. 120kmh with the broken side ski in the air AND pulling a sled. I just caught up to the last in line but when i let off the throttle the front end dropped and even the high beam wasnt high enough to see the wolf in the headlights as it made it up the river bank. Maybe i shouldve tried shooting with my left hand while i maintained the 120kmh speed with my throttle hand.lol

I drove an Arctic Cat out about 20 miles one time with a broken shock, double with my wife on the back. You were doing dang good to get it up to that speed. I don't think I hit 20 mph all the way out.

I hauled half a load of firewood home to keep the weight off the front end. Travelling at a certain speed with all my weight on the good side was ok. Once i seen the fresh tracks and smelled wolf in the air its like that broken shock didnt matter anymore. luckily i didnt hit anything at that speed

After having 3 out his 5 lynx eaten he was happy to see this one wasn't touched. PRAISE THE LORD ITS NOT EATEN!! He said as we got a good look at it. We skinned and gutted the rabbit and got some fresh scent in the air. He chose one of his many aunts and made her day with a nice clean rabbit for her supper.

Before the Lynx crashed I would go out to my camp the first trip after freeze up and haul wood, ice fish for bait and set anywhere from 3-20 traps. It was more of a preparation trip with a few traps to look at the following weekend. I usually opened trails too and shovelled a lot of snow to smooth out some steep river banks that I had trails by. The following weekend I aimed for 50 new traps and snares set. 330 boxes, mb 750, and #3’s. Always in the same places that connect so less guess work. Then every weekend after that I would fill a bag with traps and set them. 5-6 new sets every weekend until I was out of traps. High traffic locations would get 2-3 traps and usually 4-6 snares. These were places I knew would get multiple Lynx coming through. Anywhere from singles to big family groups. Other locations would get a single trap and always at least 2 snares. Those were places that got dependable traffic but not what I would call high traffic. Usually big adult singles occasionally 2-3 travelling together. A snare on the way to the trap and one on the walking trail past the trap for those pesky trap refusals. Most Lynx sets were on top the river bank in the shelter so snow wouldn’t drift then over. Very tiring sometimes walking up the steep and usually high banks. Some of the loops I was running were easier through chain lakes and over land trails with less jumping on and off the skidoo to climb banks If I remember right I was doing about 350km total in a weekend when I had every line going from Friday as early as possible until Sunday as late as possible a lot of times getting back just in time to make it to school or work around 8am Monday morning. A lot of times I had long distances between sets. More efficient in the long run to only set the good places for Lynx, wolf and wolverine. Long answer but I got to reminiscing about the good old days. I would’ve been finished the front feet on this wolf I’m working on tonight. I could keep going and add more details as they pop into mind but it’s 149am and I’ve got this wolf to get on the board.

A way shorter answer couldve been that I usually aim for 20-25 Lynx cubbies built in a day with as many snares as I feel like setting. I think I had 65-70 #3s back then. Usually made trails in the daylight and set them up by head lamp for efficient use of my time.

I’ve been opening some old trails this year and setting at a more leisurely pace compared to when the Lynx population was at the peak. I plan to open all my old trails in the next couple weeks. I’ve been trying to do but had two tough weekends in a row that set me back. Ok now I’m really going to pick my knife back up again.

We set 3 traps each around the gut piles. One on each side of the trail. Hopefully this is what catches the conibear smart wolverine. Hes a good size wolverine. Got up early this morning to head out to the delta line but had to put in some work on the old lady's car. It's all good again and I got one heck of a breakfast for my mechanics. Shower up and take off anytime now. Hopefully I get a chance at those wolves again.

We set an mb750 on a drag, a no bs trap and a bridger #5 Alaskan each.

I think this was the conibear smart wolverine. He came in to the site and stepped all over some frozen footholds. Ducked a few wolf snares then hit the last snare on the way out of the site.

Do you set your 750s higher in the trail because of the smaller jaws that don’t reach up as much? I guess mine were a bit too deep and after passing over with a few snow falls, they ended up with bad catches and pull outs. The bigger Duke was a high catch though.

Yea. It's the regular trigger too, way too light for what I'd like it at. Was surprised.
