Cordova. There's a new local ordinance on trapping for anywhere near roads.
There's also Native Land in some areas I have to avoid. Can't use artificial light in this unit either so I have a limited amount of time to make sets on most days, maybe half an hour after work and an hour in the morning, but I have to be careful not to be late for work. I go further on my weekend.

Turns out it wasn't ermine tracks just some kind of bird. I'll just stick to beaver and muskrat for now.

Just an update. On Saturday I got a few more marten boxes and a couple lynx sets put out. I had my first wolverine walk right by my 330 cubby and not go into it. So frustrating! No catches to report either.

Keep at it.From what I heard that wolverine will be back.

Won't get to check my traps till tomorrow but I'm hoping some will have occupants. I'll update then.

Does anyone remember those marten boxes I posted about?

I just sold them today for $12 each. More than enough to repay what I spent making them.
I am currently working on a stackable marten box that has a opening bait compartment.

Nice. I saw them on Alaska list too, but I haven't been up your direction in a few months. If you're still making them in a month or two, the wife and I usually go to chena hot springs sometime in March

Was only able to check half my traps. Had a coyote refusal on one of my snares and nothing in a couple baited muskrat sets. Will have to go check the rest in the morning after making my beaver sets.

Any ideas why I would get a rabbit refusal on a snare? The same size loop has caught many others and the snare is in the same location.

Always a few smarter critters.

I almost had a chance to shoot a fox today. He stoped about 50 feet in front of me, but when I drew my pistol, he was off like a shot! He was the prettiest one I have ever seen. Very nice thick fur.

And when he comes back he might walk right past again. Id change up my bait (add something new) then set a couple blinds traps and a few snares.
