Husky, Otter, wolves, and wolverine. We trap in southern SE, most on the mainland.
jk, Yes, that is some boat. My trapping partner had it built recently, mainly for eco-tourism. I think it is about 34 feet long, twin 300's, 300 gallon fuel tank, pot pullers, and a davit for aluminum skiff. The only thing I don't know if I'm really sold on yet is the gasoline powered boiler system that heats the cabin, I think the minor drawbacks can be remedied though; currently half the heat is directed into the head which is accessed from the back deck, he's going to reroute that into the cabin. It's going to take a whole lot of marten to pay for that boat...let alone buy the gas, but it sure is a lot of fun.

Luckily I haven’t had trap stolen from me. But it’s not like anybody’s going to hike 1.5 miles into the woods to find my first trap. You would be shocked. I had a guy get ornery with me where I unload my sled and park my truck at one place, and he followed my tracks in for 2 miles, then followed for another 2 miles or so setting off my traps before he ran out of steam and headed back. All because he perceived I was too close to his property (the trail I follow in misses his back property corner by about a half mile, and I don't even have any sets until almost another mile past that) so now that line doesn't have any gear for the first 5 (ish) miles. Welcome to Paradise. South Central.

Yeah dirt, in SE I never once had an issue (but I also have a nice boat to create distance). Around here as you know, everyone has a snow machine (assumably due to a much lower purchase cost than a boat) so creating that distance takes more perseverance, and even then all it takes is one ambitious bunny hugger to ruin weeks of work How far do people have to go to get away from other trappers?

A few years ago I was trapping on state land when I caught a guys dog in a snare. He was able to get the dog out in time, but he walked and snap every trap on my line in that area. Needless to say, I have since moved to a different area! I didn’t know it was against the law to mess with other people’s traps. And by the time I did, it wasn’t worth the hassle. I mean yeah it's illegal to intentionally disrupt a trapper, but I wouldn't want to be put on blast for almost hurting a guy's dog and then getting him in trouble for being mad about it. Some things are worth letting go. When a dog leaves an owners property what happens to it is the owners FAULT. If you are within our borough boundaries the dog is required to be restrained. A dog getting in a trappers trap or snare would be unlikely to constitute interference. Walking the line snapping traps would.

A dog getting in a trappers trap or snare would be unlikely to constitute interference. Walking the line snapping traps would. Oh I know, but when that guy gets fined by the troopers for interference with trapping, the story that he's going to be telling at the bar is "This &$%#÷@☆ caught my dog in a trap and almost killed him, and you know what happened? The troopers came and fined me for 'interfering with trapping!' Can you believe it?" And that's not only bad press for trappers on a whole, but also in smaller towns you can quickly turn people against you personally if you're unlucky. Actually we have new municipal codes about trapping that I'm pretty sure are directly tied to someone catching a couple dogs near a trail a couple years ago. Not sure exactly where though so I can't tell for certain whether they were in a leashed area or not. Still right or wrong legally doesn't always dictate how people feel about certain things.

At least it was only a 110. If it had been one of my 330's I would have had a bad week. Also finally got another beaver but it was a bit small. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/02/full-59494-248045-1000011168.jpg) Nice catch.A beaver is a beaver
