Was it easy to see for other people? It wasn't super obvious but it wasn't hidden either. It was in an area with slightly more traffic though since it's close enough to work I can check it on lunch break.

Luckily I haven’t had trap stolen from me. But it’s not like anybody’s going to hike 1.5 miles into the woods to find my first trap. You would be shocked. I had a guy get ornery with me where I unload my sled and park my truck at one place, and he followed my tracks in for 2 miles, then followed for another 2 miles or so setting off my traps before he ran out of steam and headed back. All because he perceived I was too close to his property (the trail I follow in misses his back property corner by about a half mile, and I don't even have any sets until almost another mile past that) so now that line doesn't have any gear for the first 5 (ish) miles. You do know it's a crime to interfere with legal trapping? Turn him in. Take pictures. He's in the wrong.

I didn't even notice that part. Yeah should have reported him. Would have got him off your back at the very least.

Martentrapper wildlife troopers have been contacted, they're dealing with him (probably in a gentler manner than I would) Don’t let up on this. It is important that people know there are consequences for such activity. Bloody nose, citations, whatever it takes to push back.

The troopers are already pretty irritated with this guy trying to gate keep state ground. He's the sort of guy who thought buying 10 acres entitled him to the couple million acres behind him

Denying access to public grounds is unacceptable, if there is a legal way through, for you. Anyone with a snow machine (or snowshoes and determination) can be there. You can actually drive quite a ways in there in the summertime with a good 4x4. You can do the first few miles in a car, it's a borough maintained logging road until you get to the last clear cut, it becomes a bunch of trails after that. It doesn't get winter maintenance, so not very driveable after early November past the end of the main road. This guy's driveway is right past the big wide spot where people park trucks and trailers, and he's made it clear he'd like very much if nobody ever went back there. However owning 10 acres at the beginning of a trail system doesn't mean it becomes his. If I'm incorrect about that, I'm gonna start being way meaner to people who ride past my place (no I won't). I will say one positive for the grouchy (insert profanity), me and one other guy share a couple miles of trail, then fork off our separate ways and I haven't seen a soul back there, he's a good guard dog lol

A few years ago I was trapping on state land when I caught a guys dog in a snare. He was able to get the dog out in time, but he walked and snap every trap on my line in that area. Needless to say, I have since moved to a different area! I didn’t know it was against the law to mess with other people’s traps. And by the time I did, it wasn’t worth the hassle. I mean yeah it's illegal to intentionally disrupt a trapper, but I wouldn't want to be put on blast for almost hurting a guy's dog and then getting him in trouble for being mad about it. Some things are worth letting go.

Waggler, those marten are obese! They aren’t nearly that fat around my line. Crazy amount of belly fat on them tbis year. I wish I would have taken some pictures while we were skining them.
