Nice to see such well handled fur from a great section of North America for fine furs.
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Pulled half my marten boxes (6) today,(season ends end of feb) Was disappointed I caught this cat in a marten set.I had closed my Jackpot for cats quite a while ago since the population is down this year, and didnt want to harvest any more. On the bright side it is a nice white belly cat with silver back and deep fur. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/02/full-21521-247290-dscf6318.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/02/full-21521-247291-dscf6320.jpg) Putting up a bit of fur last couple weeks found this fox at the bottom of the freezer. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/02/full-21521-247292-dscf6321.jpg)

Had to put my sunglasses on to look at that first cat! I got another cat skin in the freezer. ;m pretty sure it is a hybrid lynx/bobcat (kind of ugly bobcat back on it and short legs) I will compare the two when both are boarded.

Yes Chris I caught about 40 ermine this year,i didnt have too many sets out this year.Weather was crappy for running the skidoo til late in the season so I didnt bother running a bunch of traps. I tan all the ermine, and sell them at the summer pow wows. One or two pow wows and they will be all sold. Did you do any rat trapping Chris?

Not this year. In another year, I will trap a multi species line as I will be retired. Muskrats, though, will be a big part of the adventure. Chris

That is a good looking cat! What do you do with the tanned squirrels? Always feel a little bummed come end of the season but I bet the planning for the next has already begun I sell the tanned red squirrels to people that attend the summer pow wows. Kids love to have a piece of fur but dont have money for other pelts.I like to have something for the kids. Ermine and otter are bought by native dancers for their regalia and beaver fox muskrats etc are bought by people who use fur for clothing, beaded mitt trim mossehide and beaver traditional winter hats or hood trim for kulatuks. Some like wolf, lynx etc are bought by native people for dodem or by others who just want a skin for their home. I will trap some beaver in spring when the fur is still good HFT,then I will be doing my usual summer nuisance work. I see on your thread you had some low snow conditions this year Our mild conditions at the beginning of the season put a damper on trapping here this winter.

Nah,just had lots of practice-been at it for quite a while. Trick to fur handling is to start off slow, then after a while you get quick.
