Hi all, new to the forum and searched for a similar question but didn't find anything. Here's my story.

I have a large deer hide which I tanned with the Orange bottle, hair off. As it was drying I put it on the frame and every day would go out and stretch it with a piece of 1x3 wood that I had laying around. The hide turned nice and white like I expected and as it stretched, I would tighten my strings all the way around. After a couple days of doing this, I pulled the hide off the frame and it's still quite stiff. Can I go back to the stage of rehydrating in a salt bath and do another round of OB tanning oil? Or should I just continue to work it until it's as flexible as I want it?

Thanks!

That's the fun of tanning. Now you get a good work out breaking the hide.

Well, my wife is native american and doesn't believe me when I told her that women used to chew the hides to soften them! haha
