I leave next Friday heading down to South Florida for opening day of turkey season. I used our break between hunts today to check zero on the turkey gun and try out some new shells I’d gotten last year.
I think these will work! Apex Greenleaf 20ga 1 5/8oz 9x10

Sounds fun! Good luck. The gun and ammo appear to be up for the job if nothing else!

They've been gobbling a little in the morning on the roost around here.

That was a lasered 41yds. Why 41? Cause I walked the target out by steps then got back to the tree I wanted to sit against a then hit the rangefinder and too lazy to walk back and make it an exact 40, lol.
Been shooting Apex since they started and have acquired and tried quite a few different shot sizes. Those are the 9x10’s, I have straight 9’s and have shot their #10’s. Think I have 3 of those left and those with these will be for this season. I try and buy a couple boxes a quarter. Trying to get enough to last mine and my children’s lifetime, lol.

I don't hunt them but I do like to share a few photos of them. I have a lot of wild turkeys and enjoy having them around and do me no harm. I got a few pictures of them puffed up a couple weeks ago already. We were having minus degrees day for weeks at the time. Time is getting closer that is for sure.

I’m heading back to the PNW at the end of April with my son. We’re going to land in Washington and head straight to Montana to try and get him a bird, then back to Idaho/Washington. Found a bunch of birds last time I was in Montana so hoping the habitat is the same and they or their descendants are still around, lol. Beautiful country!

I didn’t get drawn here in Alberta with 14 points(14 years)

Should get drawn next year at 15,,,pretty sure it’s the longest wait time in North America

Fortunately I can drive 45 minutes to B.C. and get an over the counter tag

Scratch’s the itch,,,,

Big stink here they keep saying the bird numbers are down in the Black Hills but I seen a lot of birds the last 2 years while elk hunting. The harvest is down I believe is the case not the population, on paper it would look like that. The hens are nesting later now it’s been that way for a few years now hens flying down with the gobblers well into May. The gobblers have little interest is that hen call when several are already hanging with them.

Season has been set back to later in April and Black Hills tags are limited draw now for Nonresidents. I think it’s an overreaction they dropped the second late season tags a year or so back. Now it’s a shorter season with limited tags and not second tags but seeing large numbers of birds is not uncommon I just shake my head and hope I’m wrong.

Another decent winter so we will see.

Turkeys are a nuisance here aswell

The pockets that hold turkeys is just very small,,,being on the extreme end of their range

Elk/mule deer/grizzly bears are bigger nuisance

Some yes some no they are not that hard to get, the State Park tag takes a few tries. You can pick up leftovers after a couple draws are over if you want more tags then there’s Rez tags offered. WY is over the counter unless they changed their system.
