Set this log here 3 or 4 days ago cause it wouldn’t fit in the stove. For the last few days every time I sit down and look at it I think it has a lot of eye appeal and would be good for a bobcat scent post/rub set and I have a perfect spot in mind where I missed a cat in a dirthole earlier this week. As I was sitting there yesterday evening our house cat came and rubbed on this log, turned around and rubbed again and then laid down right by it lol… Is it a sign or just coincidence??

If you set right there, I would bet you catch a cat. LOL

Interesting, no idea if a sign or not, would be a good test though to try it.

That fat cat doesn't appear to have ever worked an honest day in it's life, therefore I would not make the mistake of conflating it's behavior upon a wildcat's behavior.
That cat is more likely leaning on that log so that it won't roll into the next room. lol

Well they're up and moving in this country. Had a couple rub sets out that I had to set off because of an ice storm. Made it back this morning to reset and the danged old cat had visited both sets. If I would have been a good cat trapper those sets would have been up and running. Reset and hoping he makes a round back through before Friday when season closes.
So I'm going to say it's a sign not to set up by the fireplace with the house cat, but to drag yourself out of the recliner and get some sets made.

Thanks for the replies. That kitty is definitely spoiled! I think she’s attracted to the wood stove more than anything. My wife always tells me if I want to catch a lot of bobcats I just need to set up a wood stove somewhere out where I trap and keep it burning all the time.

I think I’ll take the stump tomorrow and go make a set with it. I’ll post pics how I set it up and hopefully get to post a pic of a nice bobcat to go with it.

Okay, truth be told I did intimate that ole fluffy was fat, but get rid of it? I say nay.
I have found that certain cats are cool and entertaining. I'll bet ole fluffy is one of those.

An old trappers book says that if you kill your house cat, burn it, and hang it low to the ground, it is great fox bait. I dont like the sound of it! I prefer smelly meat.
