Not sure. Other than the beavs are trying to get some debris to plug the breach in the dam I tore out.

Dont seem to matter. Traps can't tilt too far, especially in trays with the divider. They are not as tippy as you'd think on that 1x1 wire.

Trapper from NY ....David Lafforthun has a video called Annilation of Trap Shy Beaver sparked this idea.

He does it a little different than me. But the original idea came from his video.

Reason why I ask is I think it was Claude Taylor that had a beaver set that he called a the SOB set. He used a board that held 4-6 mb 750s and put that in front of a dam break

Same concept SniperBBB.

I use the trays simply as a trap platform where "bedding" is impossible.

The "two sticks under the trap" method is a joke in knee deep mud.

Maybe some will get some useful info here.

These trays are something else to have to tote in, but they sure have paid for themselves many times over. I rarely have a miss at a dam break or castor mound set when I use the tray. Fat rascals swim/bump into it and climb right up on top to their fate.

Another tip:

When your otter season is closed......(Here in Georgia, our's closes in a couple more days...last day of February)....you can use footholds almost exclusively and avoid otters. Just make sure the foothold is 10" deep or so in front of the dam breach. Otter may go thru your breach, but will swim over the top and with their short legs will not come close to the foothold.

I have caught only one otter at a dam breach set in several years. Otters don't seem to linger at these narrow breaches...they shoot right thru in their travels.

Btw...most otters have their own dam crossing...usually seperate from the beavs main crossover. Just have to look at the sign to be sure. Can smell em too....if they're spending much time there.

330s in a channel or blocking a crossover is otter death.

Hit 80°F here today.

Was 75° at 1100 hrs. Was thinking to myself.....75 degrees is optimum snake temp.

A few minutes later...right where I had just sloshed thru up next to a beaver dam.....on the way back thru there is a 3 footer slithering across in my path. I had left the tater rake at SxS but had a 5 foot stick as my walking cane. Almost got close enough to whack him, but he was too fast. He got away into thick bushes.

Good thing is....I pulled those traps today.

Thankfully that will never be a problem for me. I don't know how people handle that kind of heat 75 is my absolute limit, I start feeling heat stroke-ish after that

I start sweating at pretty much exactly 70°. I'm glad I live on the coast most times cause even the interior gets hot.

This morning...tray success...again!

Wasn't sure I had enough water to drown....it was enough with weight of 750.

Also has one in a snare nearby and a 330 downstream of the main dam.

Thank goodness for the Jet Sled beaver transporter!

I use these for steep or vertical banks where there is no bottom to support the trap. MB 750 slides on and is secure until the catch.

I have a few of those. They work decent. Just have to be mindful of trap placement so beaver don't kick trap out of stand.
