Good looking beaver. What’s the typical weight of each one you catch?

I've mostly gotten beaver between 30-40. Didn't bother with putting them on the scale for the exact number. If I get one I think is over fifty I'll get an exact number then.

Some good size beaver right there.

Can't wait for work to end so I can go check my Yote snares. I have about a dozen set up so I should hope at least one was a hit.

Not in my snares, but I followed my tracks from when I set my snares and there were Coyote tracks over the top of mine so I'm in the right area.

I hope you catch him. My brother ran the line solo this weekend and we didn’t get anything but a partially eaten rabbit. About a week left in most animals so we hope to get something!

Most of my traps were set near frozen water so now I think I have to go move them before the melt gets much worse. Been 40 for a couple days and the forecast says it's going to stay that way.

Season is starting to come to a close for me. I will be picking up my traps on a rabbit snare line, a small marten line, and a few out of the way traps. The season lasts a little longer for wolf and lynx, but I have always ended at the end of February. It’s time to start working on some more woodworking projects!

I'm going to keep up my dog snares through march and continue my beaver trapping through April. The timing works out cause I'll probably be fishing halibut in May and salmon fishing starts in June.

Well, traps and snare are all picked up. Season is over for me. It was short, only two months long, but it was a lot of fun!

Post some pics of some of your catches if you can. How many of you guys have caught a lynx this year? The population cycle seems to be on the upward trend. I was just wondering if you guys are seeing the same thing.

The area around here isn't known for Lynx but I think I saw one set of tracks, and there's plenty of hares which the lynx population is supposed to follow the hare population pretty closely. Hare cycles will vary by region of course.

Apparently a good time for lynx is when a nearby hare population collapses cause wandering lynx will move into areas with more hare.

I’d post a pic of lynx but I’m not from Alaska.
Good thread guys, thanks for sharing.

Feel free to post a pic of a lynx! This was a thread specifically for Alaskan trappers, but everyone is welcome.

I saw two sets of lynx tracks this year. And I was able to snag one of them into a 330 conibear.

I put out a 330 in a milk crate set near the tracks I saw but not sure there was even a visit. Only snowed for a night and then started melting within a week.

I'm planning on prepping my traps in October this year and then setting first day of trapping season in November. Hopefully conditions are a bit nicer rather than this random back and forth mostly 35° weather we had this year.

Yea, the temperature wasn’t very cooperative this year. Lots of dips and swings. I plan on being ready to start trapping first day of the season as well. Hopefully I can get more time to make a longer line.

Okay!! I actually didn’t get this lynx with intent. I caught it in a trail set snare while targeting coyotes. We have decent lynx numbers but I didn’t target them this year because when I am specifically targeting lynx I want to be able to check my snares daily to prevent having a catch eaten. I didn’t have that time this year. [Linked Image]

That's a cool lynx. No pun intended. Definitely a bucket list target for me.

The only accidental catch that I have had was a marten that got caught in a 330 coni set for lynx. You can see a picture of it on the first post of this thread.
