Microsoft blocked my pdobbins@nc.rr.com outlook email account, because they say I violated something. They didn't say what I violated, and to get it reinstated, they have about 13 pages of forms for me to fill out. I'd rather just go to a different system if there's a user friendly one out there.

I think the most popular besides Outlook is Mozilla's Thunderbird. But, I don't use one at all, I just use my web browser to load my gmail account.

Maybe some others with more hands on experience will chime in for ya.

Just give me one thing, that I can hold on to. To believe in this livin' is just a hard way to go.

I don't like Googles politics but I've had a gmail account for years with no issues.

I run gmail for my personal account and like it. My work email is Outlook and I am not a fan of the platform.

Gmail has always been a really strong email service even as Google has become increasingly less user friendly. Their Web and app both work well.

As for other email services:
Yahoo: basic but works
Mail.com: sketchy
Hotmail: used to be popular

I have used hotmail for years but never embraced to outlook thing.

I also have a google account with multiple gmail addresses. A lot less spam than hotmail. I also have a google pixel phone and use the calendar on it and google photos is hard to beat.

Tried yahoo email before I went to gmail and had all kinds of issues with yahoo. Dumped it like a hot potato.

Regardless of the system you use, if you are sending out an email to a large group of people there may be limitations to how many you can send it to or how many can be sent in a certain period of time - you have to look at the fine print to see if that will be a problem for you.

Gmail is what I would recomment, but the first thing I'd do after getting an account and testing it is to check every privacy and "sharing" setting they have and turn off what you don't want/need. Nothing in life is free and they hope to gain as much info about you as possible. That being said, it is very safe, secure, easy to access from computers, ipads, phones, etc. It is very good at filtering out spam and junk email.

As far as "roadrunner" accounts go - I have had one since the days of "Time Warner RoadRunner". When Spectrum took over they basically discontinued "support" for RoadRunner email so it has not really kept up with technology and there are times that I just can't get it to send certain image files (like .jpg format). It's only going to get more clunky as time goes by.

Good luck!

According to the resident computer guru here, gmail is as good an option, maybe even better if you customize your security.

I use Yahoo mail but I hate it. All my back up stuff and important things are associated with Proton mail. I really prefer proton but most of my contacts are in the Yahoo account.

He doesn’t graduate until May so maybe he still has a few things to learn.

I've had a Gmail account for years. When this outlook fiasco happened where they blocked my road runner account, I switched over to my Gmail account. The problem is that I had a lot of receipts and other stuff stored in my road runner account that I can no longer access. I can access my RR account on my phone, but none of my saved stuff is there.

I found out the hard way with outlook if you log into your account on a computer it links to the computer so in order to use a different account you have to sign in as a different user on the computer that and you can’t log out of the account.

A couple weeks ago I had an issue with my Yahoo mail.. It was due to a browser update on this computer. It locked me out of Yahoo mail.

I understand that is a browser issue not a Yahoo server issue.
Nevertheless I got out my old win7 laptop that I knew had not been updated for at least a year. Opened yahoo mail and got right in. While there I transferred out everything I wanted to keep.
Probably won't work for you since it isn't a browser issue but it might be worth trying with an old device. It did require some creative vocabulary.

Are you using Microsoft Outlook through Microsoft 365? Microsoft 365 is a subscription based service. My recommendation, and what I do, is to purchase a standalone copy of Microsoft office. You can buy one off of eBay probably for 40 bucks. There is no subscription. One time purchase. When you install the software it will give you an option on which applications you want to install, just pick Microsoft Outlook.

I have Gmail but sinc it to Microsoft Outlook. Using Outlook is easier than using the web-based version of Gmail.

My Gmail account is synced in the Microsoft outlook along with my RR email. The Gmail still works.

I've got an older laptop out in the lure shed. I'll give that one a try tomorrow.
