Okay gang,, need some suggestions on how to free a tire from the rim..
It’s a cast aluminum rim so I’m hesitant to smack it very hard with a heavy hammer,, I don’t have a heat torch either.
I have a neighbor who is a young, single mom,,
Who let her brakes go wayyyyy too long..
I was able to get her passenger side tire off,, the rotor was so worn and grooved that it had chunks missing from the outer edge,, I also had to replace the caliper because the piston had pushed out too far and I couldn’t get it back in.
Any suggestions on how to get it off? I’m hoping that the rim didn’t get melted to the hub because of friction

Jack the wheel off the ground and spin and hit with a heavy dead blow hammah...from the inside

Or use a block of wood and a 3 pound sledgehammer

Are you talking about the tire from the rim(wheel)? Or the wheel from the hub?

If you are trying to get the rim off the hub, like to do brakes, loosen the lug nuts a couple turns. Set the car on the ground, so the weight is on the tire. Push and pull on the fender (not hard enough to bend the fender though), to rock the car, this usually breaks the corrosion between the wheel and the hub.

Wheel from hub, pound on the tire towards to car, either kick it or sledge on tire. It works pounding that way. Just make sure it's solid on jack and/or stands. Had a truck i had to do that on every time.

No need to whack it. Use a long prybar and pry it off, put the prybar between the wheel and a steering/suspension piece like the steering knuckle or ball joint, or even the brake rotor itself. Way easier than trying to beat it off.

I used to work in a tire shop. This works , hitting correctly on the tire sidewall ( not rim ) with a sledgehammer works too , hit at 3o'clock then at 9 o'clock back and forth.

Driving with the lug nuts just a turn or two loose takes less work sometimes. Stab your brakes real hard when doing this a couple times too.

at least you still have an inflated tire to work with

lugs all off , 2 back on a couple threads , hit everything you can with penetratingly oil it basically can't hurt, jack it as high as you can hit to the outside

this is a good tool, harbor freight will replace it when you beat to peices

if that isn't enough bigger hammer like a 8 pound sledge with the handle cut to 24 inches so you can still swing it hit the tire , but if needed duct tape wood block to the inside of the rim to hit

you can also try the all the lugs off and back on finger tight then 3 turns out , go for a drive make lots of turns , stop frequently to check lugs , you want to keep being able to turn them by finger, when you can't it moved

just went through a similar issue but my tire was already flat with a 1 inch hole in it so that made it more difficult

wire wheel and anti seize when you get it off before putting it back on

I face away from tire with vehicle jacked up then give it a right foot mule kick on one side of tire then the other. Usually brakes wheel loose in a couple kicks.

Mine was the same, even with anti seize. A mechanic friend told me about hitting it on the outside instead of crawling under the truck. It works better since there is nothing interfering with your swing or kick.

And if you don't have any never seize, use a sheet of paper.
Big enough to cover the flange, put it right over the studs, and it doesn't effect torquing the lug nuts either

grease also works , not as long but it will help

place I used to work we worked with a lot of corrosive substances around mixed metal pumps
we had a mechanic that loved his anti seize , everything was covered in it what a mess but so much easier to work on anything after he had been through it.
he used a metal can , would put the large can of anti-sieze in it then a pound of grease and mix it up , that was a quart or more of blend , he kept a paint brush in it and would use that to paint it on about everything where it would help

I've used a sledge hammer with 2x4 across tire as well. but usually if one side comes off the other isn't crazy bad......................... "usually"

Losening lug nuts, drive around a bit.
Drive some more, rough dirt roads.
Fast enough to get air a few times.
Nope.

Tried below.

Nope. Broke stuff.

Lots of PB Blaster, time, and repetitions of above methods.
Nope.

Air hammer for what seemed like hours.
Yup
