I have skinned hundreds of nutria. They smell like turpentine to me. I haven't skinned one in over 20 years, but a I swear that I can still smell it under my fingernails. Eat one? I don't think that I could hold it down.

I know what you mean Carl, I always thought they kinda smelled like eau de diesel. Still, I had some nutria summer sausage that a trapper brought to a sale that was excellent.
